Reflections on Writing – Journal Entry

It’s been over a week since I started writing on a daily basis. My goals are to improve sentence structure, gain descriptive depth, and get ahead of the learning curb. Over the last few weeks, I have seen improvements. I find more joy in my writing. It’s becoming easier to narrow down writing topics and I’m learning more about writing than I ever imagined. I’m optimistic about constant conscious improvement, but only time will tell how long it will take for me to master the subject.

My journey started with reading a blog post, made by a writer, on how to become a writer. I found the post to be very helpful. Next, I started a blog. Journaling had already been an every now and then type of hobby for me. Then I set a goal to write one blog post a day until I get the hang of it. Last; but not least, I found college-level writing classes online for free. All these are steps that I feel will help me learn the quickest, without sacrificing the quality of the education.

Writing is changing the way I think about, express, and approach creating content. Thinking about my audience when writing was something that I never considered. Learning new techniques, getting advice from writers, and reading new genres has given me a wider perspective of potential possibilities when it comes to the craft. I’m becoming more confident in my writing abilities and making educated decisions about my writings, instead of coming of the top of my head. Expressing oneself through writing helps in dealing with bottled emotions, can improve mental health, and can be therapeutic for dealing with traumatic situations.

If only I had known the depths of the benefits of writing years ago. I feel like writing is a vital intellectual asset. Manifesting marvelous experiences into reality, that can be shared with others. Continuing to write, create, and build a vision of the realities of which we wish to live, can only help us one day figure out how to make fantasy reality. Lots of things in existence today, was one day just movie magic, or an idea in a book. Through writing, that idea lived.

Being able to create free, without boundaries, has made writing an energizing passion for me. I’m a very creative person, who is always seeking effective ways of expressing it. Their is also a lot of room to grow in writing. I haven’t decided whether I want to make a career out of writing, but I’m sure that I will write for the rest of my life. I’ve found a part of myself when I began writing and I don’t plan on giving up on that part of me.

Dreams, vision, and perceptions are good things to have, but just like opinions, they can vary from person to person. I believe all things are possible if executed with a plan, thought through efficiently, and the acquit amount of effort is put forth. No one can become a great writer overnight.

Things come together in the stranges ways when you wait patiently for the universe to sort things out. Every day is a new day, with new ideas, and new opportunities to grow. I have grown through my writing experience and I’m sure that it’s making me a better person. I’m being forced to face reality about my flaws. I’m searching out my weaknesses, with the intent to make these traits my strengths.

Writing has taught me a lot over the last few weeks. The most important thing it has taught me is understanding people is important. Being able to empathize, socialize, and relate to people, is important to becoming a good writer.
